What was this french food?!

Question: What was this french food?
While vacationing with my parents in France I visited the market and a woman stopped me and asked if I wanted (____). I can't remember for the life of me. I didn't know what it was I figured why not. She scraped it up. It was flat she wrapped it in paper and asked if I wanted pepper. I've tried googling online and I keep finding crepe and pancake...I don't think that's what it was

Answers:

was it galettes de blé noir ? ie savory buckwheat flour crepes from the brittany region ?
otherwise, you need to be more precice (where were you? what id it taste like ?)
it could have been panisses or socca from the medeteranean region they are made with chickpea flour

all this is delicious ! and doesnt taste at all as strange as it sounds

You're not giving us much information to go by. It's flat and has pepper in it?

It very well could have been a crepe, but it's hard to say. A crepe is very different from North American pancakes. It's very thin, wide, and pliable -- and most importantly it also comes in many savoury varieties, so it's not just a dessert or breakfast item.

Most french crepes look like rectangles, and many of them are savory instead of sweet. I'm thinking that it may have been a crepe, such as a Black Pepper Crepe with goat cheese and tomatos, but, unless you know what the filling is, it's really difficult to figure out.

pate? head cheese? tartare?
