How does CALAMARI...taste?!

Question: How does CALAMARI...taste?
Im terrified to eat it because its squid but im considering it..If its not squid flavored!! So how does it taste?

Answers:

Doesn't taste fishy, it's more like a crunchy, light taste with a little bit of chewy. The taste is not scary at all, the texture is what is different because it's not flaky like fish or meaty like a chicken nugget but you'll be having it with dipping sauces, so you'll be fine.
Enjoy it!

It does NOT taste like chicken- why does everyone always say 'exotic' things taste like chicken?!

It tastes like CALAMARI! Seriously, squid is calamari, it tastes like calamari. It is NOT rubbery unless it has been overcooked.

it is fairly bland and tends to take on the taste of things it has been cooked with. The closest thing I can think of comparison wise to correctly cooked calamari would be Tofu. They have a similar texture (unless over cooked where tofu disintegrates and calamari turns to rubber) and the taste isn't that different although calamari has a 'meatier' taste to it than tofu does. It's a VERY mild seafood taste. You will probably like it- most people do!

Most people can't detect a flavour other than the salt and pepper that it is usually covered with.

It probably is the least "fishy" tasting seafood I have ever eaten. You would probably prefer it breaded. I absolutely love calamari and have eaten it breaded, broiled, baked, steamed...The flavor is hard to explain but getting over the notion that it is squid will probably be the hardest thing for you. It is yummy.

Its a unique taste, not like chicken or anything like that. But it also doesn't have a seafood taste. Its not a crazy strange taste, and it has a great texture and is very versatile.

(And how do you know if you don't like the flavor of squid if you've never had squid"

Other foods many people are nervous about trying but are really wonderful:

Alligator
Sushi
Vegetables.

It doesn't taste like squid, it has a nice subtle taste a hint like chicken. I would suggest you try it with a sauce or another side dish, to boost the flavour. May I warn you that it has a very rubbery texture but I guarantee you will enjoy it.

Personal knowledge

I don't know what is the problem - I like calamari best if it is carefully deep fried. Also great in salads/
If you like the calamari go ahead and try octopus. A real treat in many places.

It doesn't have a seafood taste. But it is pretty chewy. Its actually not that bad once you get over the fact that its a squid.

It doesn't taste like chicken, but it tastes good. Just try it and see if you like it.

like calamari...why don't you eat it & find out for yourself? then you complain about outsourcing.

It has a very mild taste. I like it.
