I wonder why people think spicy is the same as hot...heat is something you can absolutely control. Spices do what the tums & the purple pill & all the rest of the stuff sold to people does, & more, they taste better, & have beneficial effects on health, mood & immunity, besides neutralizing some of the adverse effects of the foods we eat. Like ginger &/or garlic added to lentils & beans while cooking greatly reduce the gassiness, & the turmeric (the yellow powder used in Indian cooking) is anti-inflammatory & a mild antiseptic, & it also reduces hemorraging. The list is almost endless.

All palates are acquired tastes. Many people in the west drink soda every meal, but some people living in the middle of African desert never tasted it, so you would ask how do people live without soda. Well as long as we all have daily required nutrients for our body functions, whether the food is spicy, sweet or crunchy have nothing to do with how do people live. No need to assume every person likes the same things you like.

It's easy for people to live without spicy foods when they don't eat spicy foods on a regular basis, or was not raised on eating spicy foods etc.

Not easy for a person like me since I've eaten spicy foods all my life. It's a condiment that is necessary because without it, to me whatever I am eating is just bland for my taste. I need the hot sauce, fresh chili peppers, red pepper flakes, etc.

It's just a pallet and stomach thing... I was able to handle super spicy and still taste all the yummy smoked flavor but ever since I got my braces, I can handle less spicy, don't know why? I miss it :O( My daddy was a spicy eating man but know he gets lots of tummy aches if he eats lots of it.
So it depends on the person.
but I do love it.

There are many excellent foods and cuisines that do not require one to feel as though their mouths were on fire. Generally, the hotter the spice, the less taste the food has because the heat overpowers the rest of the ingredients.

Because they were 'burned" by spicy foods! My ma thought she'd hate curry. She refused to go to Thai, until I had my bday dinner. I don't prefer ultra spicy, but learning which ones are good is fun!
Be Daring!!

No idea, I know I couldn't. Spicy food has been such a big part of my life. I couldn't imagine being without it.

Spice lover

If you only eat spicy food you will miss all the wonderful flavours food can have.

Non-adventurously and boring.

Easy, I hate spicy foods

Easily. I don't care for it and neither does my tummy!
