There is Joloff Rice from Senegal which is maybe best described as a cousin of Louisiana Gumbo, Piri Piri chicken or shrimp, which is made with hot peppers. Nando's has a website for its South African recipes and places to buy their sauces, which are very good. Looking into the cuisines of Zanzibar and Ethiopia can be interesting, as the other poster says, its a big continent, many different countries that have many different tribal and colonial influences.

Well Africa is a big place, do you mean North African countries (Egypt, Morocco etc) where food is similar to middle eastern food or sub-Saharan Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya etc)?

A good place to start is to look up a website of an Ethiopian restaurant here in the US (tons in DC and NY) and look at the menu items. You will find lots of lentils.
