depends on the species and packaging. The best packaging is moisture and light proof and if you can vacuum package the meat that is the best you can do. As to storage temperature the colder the better. Commercially -20 F is not unreasonable. In your home freezer try to keep it at zero.
As to species, pork and fish freeze very poorly. Shelf life of no more than 3 months under optimum conditions. Beef will keep quite a bit longer. Perhaps up to a year but most technologist will say 9 months. It depends somewhat on what you can tolerate in terms of quality.
There are not microbiological issues obviously.

personally don't trust it after a week or ten days------and hence consume it within that time period

but many people i know keep it for two months or more ----and then eat it

it depends on individuals taste and desire for freshness

fresh meat has an distinct aroma-------which i cannot find much in frozen meats for a long time

good luck

You should check the temp. of your freezer. It should be at 0 degrees F. Meat should be ok for up to a year. If you have opened the package and re-bagged it, make sure all the air is out.
