Uses soda for the rising, and no yeast. It is a dense, thick, chewy, almost paste-like consistency, very nutty and 'brown' tasting, a flat muddy flavour. It is SO freaking good with unsalted butter and jam.

And something else entirely when sliced with butter and cheese.

It comes in a round loaf shape, not a rectangle, traditioanlly anyway.

It is bread that is leavened by baking soda instead of yeast.

It has a flavour and texture that are different from regular bread because of not using yeast.

The texture is a bit like a scone. It's not fluffy like white bread is.

It is bread that uses soda as leaven.
