Question: Brown sugar substitute?
I know that Sugar + Molasses = Brown Sugar, but I don't have Molasses, would it still be the same if I used Maple Syrup?

A drizzle of maple on regular sugar would work fine. Flavor will of course, be different. If there are spices in this recipe, cut them in half because molasses flavor is much more intense than maple.

Honey is a no no for baking or cooking because when exposed to high heats it becomes indigestible and can harm your digestive system. Once won't hurt but don't make cooking with honey a habit.

texture and moisture would be the same, taste totally different.

But don't worry about it! When I don't have brown sugar, I use all white and ignore the brown notation.

Taste is different, but not texture or moisture of whatever you are cooking.

Of course it would not be the same. Maple syrup is nothing like molasses. Maple syrup comes from a tree. If you can't find brown sugar, you might try in a latin abasto or market. They will have panela, which are blocks of brown sugar.

I think the syrup would be fine. If you have honey, you can use that also. That's what I do when I'm baking because I always forget to buy the brown sugar.

molas are used in milk pies, and rice pies, brown sugars are used in preparing cakes, and preparing oats.

I think that you would get a similar texture and that it might not come out too badly but the flavor would be vastly different.
