In the UK why is Coke more popular than UK soft drinks, and Mcdonalds more popular than fish n chips?!
Answers:
Because we try so hard to be American.
Unfortunately, we, the Brits, have no culture, so we try and adopt someone else culture instead.
I don't even know what we will do on the Opening Ceremony when we host the Olympics, we will properly go down the Multicultural way!
Its all about brand power. I worked for Coca Cola years ago and they dont even need to advertise seriously. You show people a tiny bit of the coca cola logo, not any of the lettering and they know what it is automatically.
The brand so the images Coca Cola use are actually worth more than the drink itself in monetary value. Actually when Coke sold their bottling plant years ago it was the brand name that cost more money than the recipe. Tesco once cancelled all their orders with Coca Cola and said that they believed customers didnt care about brand just the taste, customers went crazy over it and they had to back peddle and ask to be supplied again. Pretty much brainwashing really, even Santa with his red suit as we know him now was created for Cola Cola for an advertising campain. Its amazing how much power a brand has.
Its the same with McDonalds its all in the branding and advertising. People believed that they are getting a better product because they recognise the name/brand,
Hope that answers your question
Price, I'd imagine. Most people living on or below the poverty line will eat and drink what's cheapest.
