Well as an appetizer I might include some beano. ;-) Sorry couldn't resist. One of my favourite apps is shrimp pate on triangles of toast. It's lovely - easy - and guest always love it and think you slaved.
8 oz. cream cheese softened
2 T. brandy
4 oz. fresh shrimp
1/2 t. garlic
2 T. butter
few drops of Worcestershire sauce
few drops Tabasco sauce to taste
salt and freshly ground black pepper
Place 1/2 t. of the butter in a saute pan. Add the shrimp and garlic. Saute until shrimp is cooked. Set aside and cool.
When cooled roughly chop the shrimp. Add all ingredients to a food processor and process until smooth.
Spoon into a crock or a plastic wrapped mold. Or serve rounded spoonfuls on toast. Chill until ready to serve.
For side dishes, snce I am sure there is rice in the cabbage roll, a nice combo of roasted veg like parsnip, beets, and carrots with olive oil rosemary salt and pepper. Could not be easier, more colorful, or more delish.
And for my all tme easy peasy crowd pleasing dessert, Tart tatin
4 oz of butter
4 oz of white sugar
6 large apples
fresh lemon juice
1 sheet of flaky or puff pastry
The pan you choose for Tarte Tatin is important as it must be able to withstand cooking on a stove top and in the very hot oven with extremely hot caramelizing sugar. A heavy bottomed seasoned cast-iron pan is preferable.
Preheat the oven to 200∞C, 390∞F or gas mark 5. Measure your pan and cut your pastry sheet into a round disc to fit as a lid. Cover the pastry so it doesn’t dry out and put aside for later.
Peel the apples and cut into quarters removing the core. Brush with lemon juice so they do not brown.
Melt the butter and sugar together in the pan and slowly cook together until the sugar dissolves.
Arrange the apple quarters in the sugar mixture in a snug even pattern. Cook over a slow to medium heat for around 20 minutes until the apples are slightly soft and the sugar has begun to caramelize.
Place the pastry round securely on top of the apples. Bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
Place a serving dish over the pan and flip upside down to release the dessert, so that the pastry is underneath.



I'd say a loaf or french bread or baguettes. You could pour melted butter and garlic into it for garlic bread Or even texas toast or garlic toast. I think some whole new potatoes or just big chunked potatoes n carrots boiled whole would be good. Or even Roasted red potatoes with rosemary n garlic or something along that line.
