do a veggie side dish since your meal already has meat and grain

Fettuccine is just another shape of pasta, I usually get the linguine or just wide egg noodles. I've even used spaghetti for the alfredo sauce. You could use any shape like those tubular shaped or shells or bow ties all for presentation I say! A thicker pasta will taste more of the pasta so I'd go with a thinner type. thicker would be good for a strong red sauce.
I think bacon seasoned green beans or buttered steamed asparagus with a crusty baguette or some garlic bread.
I think stuffed mushrooms(whole with stuffing and baked) would be fab!!!
But you can't go wrong with a good chop chop salad with red onions and different types lettuce greens maybe some sunflower seeds & currants in there or that may be much with the fruit as a side dish.

If you serve 100 gram (3.5 oz.) portions then you've served a full meal all in one. A salad would do just fine. An orange or some other fruit would be the perfect desert.
Fettuccine is a flat (versus round like spaghetti) type of pasta.

Fettucine is thick, flat pasta noodles. I think it would taste good with a salad and garlic bread.

broccolli and garlic bread!!!!!!!!!! and it is just a different noodle shape, that's all (besides the sauce of course).

none!
