Americans: Were you impressed with the food in Italy?!

Question: Americans: Were you impressed with the food in Italy?
Why or Why Not?

Answers:

I'm currently living here in Sicily as my hubby is stationed here, and honestly MOST of the food is amazing. But there are places that people rave over that are just so/so. As being an American you really have to be careful on how you ask for certain foods as they mean something else to the Italians. If you ask for pepperoni on pizza, sometimes you end up with tons of bell peppers on it. Also asking for certain meats in pastas. I ended up with donkey meat in my alfredo, I didn't find out til a local told me, when he overheard me say something about the ham tasting off.

Yes I was. But, a LOT of Italians have moved to America and opened up great authentic restaurants. I am just as pleased with some of the Italian food I get in New York as I was with the food in Italy.

Yes, it was delicious! I've been twice, and the "typical" Italian food (pizza, pasta) was fantastic. I also had some wonderful seafood, and I'm not even a fan of seafood!

Personal experience :)

NO. I had lime ice cream in the shape of spaghetti. It gave me terrible food poisoning.

However I am sicilian so I'm biased.

I was very impressed with the gellato. I was only in Italy for a day, and didn't eat very much.

Because it tastes delicious!

Been to Italy

Infinitely!

The pasta, the pizza, the seafood, the gelato! I miss it, I wish I could go back right now!

I was so very impressed with the food in Italy

What's an Italy?

Never been to Italy so I guess I wasn't that impressed.
