Because humans are designed to perceive the flavor of meat as delicious. The Japanese coined a word to describe this perception. Umami. Which translates as "savory sense". Umami has been accepted by the scientific community as the 5th taste sense.

I think it is a primevil, subconscious thing. The smell of it cooking is a trigger--delicious! delicious!
