Those are what americans will eat. If you knew real chinese food and saw what it looked like you might not eat it.
First hand experience.
They make what sells ...BUT, if you have a chinese favorite that you don't see, ask about it, they might be able to make it for you. I love chow fun - especially seafood chow fun - but it's never on a menu. One day out of frustration, I asked the waiter at the little Chinese place I usually lunch at why no Chinese restaurants ever have chow fun and he said they could make whatever kind of chow fun I wanted. I was a happy girl;-) Just because something's not on the "standard" menu, doesn't mean it can't be made up for you.
because they are dealing with the masses and part of the deal is to produce food that is quick . . make it as cheaply as possible, and be very consistent. The masses tend to like consistency and not be surprised. It's at this point nothing more than comfort food. You know . . most mexican restaurants don't really stand out either for that matter.
But I do see your point even more so on Chinese food.
It's because it's what the people want. Real Chinese food is good and a LOT different. I bet the items on the menu you're talking about are like "Sweet and sour pork", "Honey Chicken" etc. But yeah, to answer your question, there's a chance that it's prepackaged. Ask the owner.
These restaurants (particularly the strip mall ones) are just trying to sell the most accessible food that people seem to like.
China is huge and full of many foods other than sweet and sour chicken and fried rice.
Well because when you go to a Chinese place to eat, obviously, you want Chinese so you know what you want. If they changed the menu people wouldn't like it. Plus Chinese food can't really change
I know
Good observation. I've often wondered this myself. I know many of the Chinese buffets here in the Phoenix area have food that all tastes the same.
they are all famous dishes of Chinese food with the same name, but different restaurant, different tastes.
That's Chinese food. They perfect in that. Why should they vary the recipes or menu?
coz they dont confuse the customers wid diff variety
Do you want chinese food or not?
well let us think about this one what is one obvious trait they all share in common
