YES

Yes it is fattening! As many other people commented, most store bought sauces have sugars, corn syrup, honey, etc. as most Americans like the sweet BBQ sauces. However, there are a number of BBQ sauces that don't have a lot of sweeteners that are mustard and vinegar based. Also, you can make your own bbq sauce and keep down the calories as well.

It depends on what kind of "BBQ sauce" you eat. If you buy a commercial brand of ketchup based sauce that contains sugar, yes it contains more calories and could contribute to weight gain. If you eat genuine North Carolina style pork barbecue sauce which is mostly cider vinegar and red pepper with no sugar your chances of weight gain from the sauce are slimmer.

BBQ sauce has a LOT of sugar in it, so yes, it can be fattening. If you limit yourself to a teaspoon or less per meal, though, I doubt it would make a big difference. A teaspoon is not a lot, though!

I assume it is not great as it has lots of sugar in and sugar can make you fat.

make your own and cut out the some of the sugar. try carolina style sauce it is has more vinegar
