What type of pasta should I use?!

Question: What type of pasta should I use?
I am making a steak & mushroom alfredo, what types of pasta would be good? I was thinking farfalle (bowties) any other suggestions?

Sound good. The farfalle will hold on to the mushroom sauce and it will be a nice treat to eat pieces of steak with smaller pasta. Long pasta is fine to eat by itself but when there are more complex ingredients like steak it is easier to eat the smaller pastas.

Steak and Mushroom Alfredo is quite a heavy sauce. Fettuccine is typically used for an Alfredo and can be used for this dish, However this contains other ingredients such as steak and mushrooms, Farfalle pasta are too delicate for this type of sauce. The best pasta for this sauce is pappardelle pasta-which is a thicker version of fettuccine and my second choice would be fettuccine. Pappardelle can be made with or without eggs. These broader noodles are sturdy enough to hold this sauce. If you can use home made pappardelle-this will be a heavenly dish!! Store bought or dry will be okay but homemade or fresh pasta is the Ultimate in creating a memorable dish. Not all pastas work with all sauces, because of their shapes some pastas work best with specific sauces and will hold some sauces better than others.

Fettucine is the traditional one for alfredo - the flat, ribbon shape about the length of spaghetti.

Whatever seems to be handy will work. Experimenting with different pasta is fun. Cooking should be fun. Enjoy!

Fettichini, or linguini would be my choices.

nahh... linguine
