Most large cities would carry many asian fruits. If you can't find them at your local supermaket check around for an oriental market or the local china town.

It depends on where you live. In a Pacific Coastal City like San Fran or Los Angeles, Portland, San Diego or Seattle you will find more Asian ingredients. If you live inland like in Montana or Sweet Tweet, NB you might have to have a talk with a large green grocer to see if they can bring things in for you. Here in BC we have a very large Asian population and there are tons of Asian grocers as well as tons of Asian foods in the regular markets like Safeway and IGA. The smaller grocers can't afford to bring in a case of star fruit because no one will know what to do with it and it will spoil.

Can you teach Asian cooking to a class for night school or in a community hall? That will build interest in the food and in buying different groceries in your area.

Those things, and many more fruits from Asia are available in the US. If your local supermarket does not carry them, try a large farmers market like the one in DeKalb Georgia.
