They are generally pretty healthy, but it all depends on what you include with them or what you use as a topping. For example, if you make udon noodles with tempura prawns then it is not going to be too healthy because of the tempura prawns.

Like Italian pasta there are many different varieties of Japanese noodles. The most common Japanese noodles are:

Egg Noodles – originally from China but popular in Japan as “instant noodles” in soup (ramen) or stir fried (yakisoba).

Udon (thick wheat noodles)

Soba (buck wheat noodles)

Somen (thin wheat noodles) – usually served cold as a refreshing summer dish.

Harusame (potato starch noodles) – similar to Chinese thin rice noodles and used in Japanese hot pots

If you eat only noodles at every meal, it must be unhealthy since it has poor nutritive value and it contains high calories and carbohydrates in it.
It also has quite an amount of salt.
It all will make your body more susceptible to chronic malnutrition as well as susceptible to various forms of illness such as high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, angina, myocardial infarction, kidney disease, brain hemorrhage and ALOT.

Eating it with other nutritious food is advised.

noodler

well packaged noodles are not but the ones you'd find hand made in good restaurants are pretty nutritious.... the south east asians believe in using core flavours and stocks which go along with these noodles ... which are extremely nutritious... but if yer talking about the chinese and japanese food served in india by the roadside... they are ridiculously bad for yer health...!

As compared to what?

By themselves, they're just flour and water - you'll get some starch but that's it.

If you eat them fried, you're also getting a dose of fat.

No fool, its all carbs and barely has any real nutrients. Even Asian people know that **** is unhealthy to eat too much of.

if its not packaged noodles
if its made by hand it would be healthy

It is low carb and high fibre
