Greek food vs middle eastern food?!


Question: Greek food vs middle eastern food?
Whats the difference?
My Greek friend told me they used too much Cinnamon.
Which one do you like better and why??

The cuisines of the Eastern Mediterranean region tend to have quite a bit in common, and the countries are always quibbling as to who "invented" certain dishes first. They all share a love of olives and olive oil, rice, lamb, flatbread, sesame seeds, citrus, grape leaves, etc. Greek food tends to rely a lot more on seafood then the other mediterranean cuisines, and since I love seafood, I tend to like Greek cuisine a bit more.



Greek foods are - e,g:
black olives, lamb, thyme, lemon, gyros, rosemary, aromatics, souvlaki - grilled chicken with zucchini and other veggies and tzatziki sauce, flat breads, Greek salad - red onions, feta cheese, olives, olive oil, vinegar boiled potatoes with pepper, rosemary and tzatziki. layered pastry, various seafood cooked in style, and there is 1 luxury seafood item that all of the Mediterranean people have it as a special menu on their list would be - Mediterranean octopus "these octopus are delicious, seasonal, and expensive. They are quickly boiled in perfection served with special regional sauce - I just want salt, olive oil and lemon to eat this."

Middle Eastern e,g:
kabsa, shawarma, spiced sausage with chickpeas and vegetables, flat breads and garlic sauce, "I've tasted a lot, and I don't remember the names, they are all very good - if you have been in a certain Middle Eastern restaurant. Moroccan cuisine - they use a lot of cinammon and I like the spice combination of their food, they are always very flavorful"

Cinnamon is not really associated in the Greek cuisine spice-groups.
Herbs, spices and aromatics used in Greek cuisine are supposedly ''fresh and green''

Hmm. I've tried both, and to be honest I prefer Middle Eastern, specifically Lebanese. The reason is, Greek food tends to be too heavy for my stomach, but maybe I ate the wrong thing (the moussaka nearly killed me, lol!).

Still, love love love Lebanese. Shawarma, kibbeh, hommous bi tahini, tabbouleh, baba ghannoush. Even thinking about it is making me hungry.

Edit. tabbouleh, for example, is a salad made out of chopped parsley, just that: with a little lemon juice and maybe some crushed pine kernels (no cinnamon though, maybe that's a Moroccan thing!), and it is divine, and really refreshing.
