About the bird-shaped Japanese confection called Piyoko?!

Question: About the bird-shaped Japanese confection called Piyoko?
Hi, I've been searching for info on a bird-shaped Japanese confection called Piyoko cake, but haven't been able to find much. The first time I saw them was while watching Cowboy Bebop, during an episode when the gang visits Earth; I immediately fell for them, imagining they had to be as delicious as they were cute, but was never able to gather any information on how to prepare them or even their ingredients. So I'm asking that anyone who knows anything about them please let me know -- recipes and cultural data would be great!

I'll leave you a couple of links to images of piyokos:

The bird-shaped Japanese confection called Piyoko should be "Hiyoko"(a chick) and it is very popular confection for a long time in Japan. The following link is pics of Hiyoko cakes:

The Piyoko candies sold to Jet on Cowboy Bebop are based off Marshmallow Peeps, marshmallow candies. They are indeed Japanese and can be found and bought in Tokyo. If you have a Japanese grocery import store near you, they may sell or be able to procure some for you.

Hate to tell you, but there is no such thing as a Piyoko.

It was a gag from that episode of Cowboy Bebop, and judging from the characters' reaction to them, they didn't really taste that good, and even though they were always starving from lack of food, there are some things they still wouldn't eat.

Many places in Japan sell local area "specialties" as souvenirs. Although sometimes one has to wonder if the locals really eat that stuff... For instance, one town I passed through in Japan claimed its specialty was a type of preserved fish that stank really bad. I don't think the locals actually eat this - they just sell it to tourists. The piyoko seems to fall into this category - something no one would normally buy.
