Advice for a newbie to sushi?!
What should I get? Is there a fish that stands out as the best raw? I want to make a good impression, and I'd rather not throw up all over the table. :)
Answers:
If you've never had sushi before and you are definately gonna be eating varieties that have raw fish then I'd go with Salmon. It's not that 'fishy' .... tuna can be sometimes so it might make you a little squeamish.
California roll and Futomaki roll contain no raw fish, cucumber, avocado roll either.Salmon is pretty mild as well as tuna. When you want to make an impression you sit at the sushi bar and ask for their specialty. Let the sushi chef know it is your first time as that will give them a good idea of what to serve you. Unless you are trying to hide the fact from your friend. Hard to hide though if it's your first time.
Check out this link for sushi etiquette: Lots to know, but don't let it overwhelm you. If you are up front about it being your first time you will be given more hints and tips than critiques.

Sushi can be a little scary if you haven`t tried it before, but there is nothing to be worried about. Sushi is an amazing dish and has a light, delicate taste.
I would start off with some easy to eat sushi like makizushi (sushi rolls) with things like Salmon Roll, Avocado Roll and Cucumber Roll. Then try some Nigirizuhi with toppings like maguro (tuna), sake (salmon) and ebi (shrimp). I enjoy my sushi with a little wasabi and soy sauce and like to have some pickled ginger to cleanse the palate after each sushi.

Where did you get your info from? Sushi and raw fish are not the same thing. Yes there is sushi with fish, but you and many others have not studied the matter and do not realize that you can get sushi with cream cheese, avocados, and on and on. I don't get this I will throw up nonsense. Get a life..
Easiest, in my opinion, is salmon and spicy tuna. :D
Not all sushi ingredients are raw, though.
Also, be careful about the wasabi! It stings your nose and it's pretty spicy, so only take a little bit.
That sounds fun. Good luck!
1st:
sushi is not all raw fish
there are vegetable rolls, cooked and smoked fish rolls, and many others
as for specific raw, personally, i like a nice spicy tuna
Start with California rolls, they're very yummy and don't have raw fish, they usually have a little crab & avocado, they're nice and fresh.
My advice to newbies is to order a Spicy Tuna Roll.
As long as the roll is made with tuna pieces and not ground tuna, it will change your sushi-loving life
Enjoy!
