Can I eat anchovies with the hair?!

Question: Can I eat anchovies with the hair?
I was served Caesar salad with anchovies and they still had the hair on them (or what is also considered fine bones) and I ate them anyway to freak out my friends. There were some other extraneous bones that looked like ribs, but I picked those out. But the many fine hairs were the ones I ate.

A website says they come from using older fish (ones who have matured mor before they were caught).

I wonder if I also should have complained.

Anyway it is probably fine and they are probably digestible. Some people say they get stuck in their teeth but that didn't happen to me.

Answers:

Yes, they are totally digestible, and yes, they are "rib" bones. Bones from fish that small are normally not difficult to digest, and the salting/preservation process that anchovies go through further soften the bones.
The fact that they had the bones still in them does not make them an inferior-quality anchovy. Some might argue quite the opposite, that having been preserved on the bone, the fish retains more flavor.

I like mine shaved & then ill eat it sooo but yes you can eat it with hair too. You might need to pick your teeth afterward especially if your a waiter
