Who can remember when Fish and Chips were served on newspaper?!

Question: Who can remember when Fish and Chips were served on newspaper?
They seemed to taste much better in those days, and one could read last months news, while letting the vinegar run all down your clothes.

Answers:

Oh yes!!! A little brown greaseproof paper bag wrapped in newspaper. Great for keeping your hands warm on the way home from school when you spent your bus money in 3 potato fritters and a bag of murlies (the little bits of batter that broke loose when the fish was being fried) All soaked in vinegar and chip shop brown sauce.

Even when I was working and able to afford to buy a fish supper they were still wrapped in newspaper. And I agree, they tasted far better.

I do.
We used to open the end of the package and the try to read what we could without opening it up.

We never had vinegar on ours, just the salt.

I think it was in the early '70's they used white newsprint, for health reasons, LoL
