What should I expect for dinner at a German's house?!

Question: What should I expect for dinner at a German's house?
My boyfriends lab mate invited everyone over to his house to meet his wife and have some dinner - said they are cooking some deer (curious on where it came from) and german food - they just arrived from Germany at the end of January/beginning of Feb ---- not sure what to expect -

I am all around around born and raised picky american eater! :) A little worried about being polite and eating as I also have a 1 yr old (not so picky) --- to eat as well..

Thanks :)

Answers:

Soup
Salad
Roast Venison - maybe done up with juniper berries as a "Sauerbraten"
served with: Potatoes, or dumplings or MY FAV: Spatzle - like noodles
Braised Red Cabbage
Carrots
Dessert: Black forest Cake???? MMMMM German Desserts are terrific.
Coffee or tea or an Alsbach Uralt Brandy Coffee

Don't be picky - be grateful that someone else is cooking for you. Do a bit of research on German foods and language and be informed before you get there.

Guten abend - Good Evening
Danke - Thank you
Wie gehts? - How are you?

1 billion people on this planet are in danger of starving to death every day... get over your pickyness. You child doesn't need it either.

Chef - been to Germany

Have a try --- if the Germans survive you will also survive.
There are a lot of different recipes for deer in Germany and all are very much better than a burger.
But we in Germany prefer a mild flavour to hot food.
