How do you make Oatmeal & Raisins for Breakfast?!

Question:

How do you make Oatmeal & Raisins for Breakfast?

I don't like the instant oatmeal. I use the kind that you make on the stove. Everytime I make Oatmeal and Raisins, the oatmeal tastes dry and yucky and the raisins taste bland. My older younger sister makes perfect oatmeal. She makes it for the family sometimes. I don't put any sugar in my oatmeal anymore.

Answers:
It is not that hard. Simply cook the oatmeal according to the directions, then add the raisins at the very end so they are not bland.

I pour two mugs of milk in the saucepan and heat it up. While it's heating I pour in the amount of oatmeal I want to eat (just under a mug), keep on medium heat and the secret is to stir it as much as you can until it is cooked. Keep stirring, it adds air to the oatmeal and won't dry up. If it looks like drying, you can add a little more milk and keep stirring. Eat with yogurt, delicious

Put the oats in a pan - preferably non-stick pan. Cover the oats with milk (enough to just about cover them) add the raisins at this stage and it will make them plump and juicy. Put the pan over a medium heat on the burner and stir every once in a while. After about 5-8 minutes the oatmeal will thicken and and will be ready to serve. I sometimes add a little cold milk before serving to moisten and cool the cereal down before consuming.

How I make oatmeal:
I put about as much water in a pan as the amount of oatmeal I want to make.
I bring the water to a boil.
I start adding oatmeal to the boiling water, stirring fast as I pour.
I cook until it's the texture I want.
If you want to add raisins to the oatmeal, you can first put them in a pan with a little bit of water, usually about enough to just cover the raisins. Cook for a couple minutes until the raisins are plumped up and soft. Then add them to the finished oatmeal along with any spicing you may wish to add (nutmeg, cinnamon, etc). I also like my oatmeal with a touch of butter and brown sugar. Yum!
