Is drinking Crystal Light harmful?!

Question:

Is drinking Crystal Light harmful?

I used to drink too much soda and didn't realize that I could gain over a pound a week due to the amount I was drinking. So I gave up soda and started to drink juice. Then I was told juice is just as bad because of all the sugar it contains. I like to drink water but not all the time so I started to use the Crystal Light on the go.. Now Im hearing that this type of drink isn't good either because of the artificial sweetners. Is this true? If so, how can it affect you?

Here are the ingredients:
Maltrodextrin
Citric & Malic Acid
Aspartame (artificial sweetner)
Calcium Phosphate
Acesulfame

Answers:
Most artificial sweeteners have been shown to produce some type of cancer cells in laboratory research, a rise in diabetes, and obesity ...why take the risk...use natural, minimally processed (if at all) sweeteners...turbinado sugar, honey, etc.

I'll tell you this...I don't "let" my kids drink any sugar-free (artificially sweetened) beverage, and have talked to them about the findings and given them literature to read...they're 8 & 9 years old...can't start too young...each one, teach one!

I drink tons so I hope not.

(I think the sugar and the fattening qualities of other stuff is bad too---and water does get old even with lemon and lime in it).

Also----did you know Iced Tea causes Kidney Stones?

I think we should become Breathereans---but the air is kinds polluted these days.....

Just do the best you can. =^)

I heard the artificial sweeteners in Crystal Light are bad for the body...therefore, I don't drink it because any processed & artificial sweetener is bad for the body.

I drink it but not as often as I used to. My doctor suggested lightening up on it because of the phosphates. Anything should be drank in moderation. I drink mostly water and iced tea with lemon now. But I will drink other things as a treat. I have found that I drink more water if I put lemon in it and it is cold.

Well, there is a possibility that if you drink too much aspartame it can cause cancer, but diet sodas and many other drinks have aspartame as well.

No one really knows the health risks or benefits from aspartame yet because it is a relatively new product on the market. It was only released about 15 years ago, so no long term health studies could be done on the effects on the human body.
