Answers:
- One cup of yogurt
- 2 tablespoon of mayo (maybe light mayo)
- 1 table spoon of mustard
- couple of cilantro leaves
- salt (just a sprinkle)
- 4-5 drops of tabasco sauce (any other hot sauce)
- Crushed croutons / bacon bits
- 2 cloves of garlic
- half teaspoon of ginger paste
- 1/2 cup of tomato puree

Blend it together and enjoy

Olive oil, lemon juice and mint (dried is better but fresh is also good!)

i combine two parts olive oil with one part white wine or flavoured vinegar, add a pinch of salt and pepper and a clove of crushed garlic and shake it all up in a bottle. delicious!

when i want something more substantial i get greek yoghurt and add a little lemon juice, crushed garlic and black pepper.

virgin olive oil, mixed with 3 tablespoons of lemon juice,
salt + pepper.

Purely delicious, goes with any salad.

1 part lemon
2 parts olive oil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Onion powder
1 teapsoon of minced (fresh oregano or mint)
salt to taste (start with a 1/4 tsp)

Simple and light tasting.

i dont know bout a whole salad, but i love with just tomatoes... loads and loads of olive oil and some salt and fresh basil. is soooooooo yummy!! xx (add mozzerela or feta if you like)

Red wine vinegar, mashed raspberries and juice (use thawed frozen ones since they are cheaper), honey and a light oil like grape seed.

Bit of mayonaisse here 'an there to lick off. yum yum

flavor white vinegar with a ton of fresh dill, and use a little sugar just before serving with olive oil. to flavor vinegar, put the dill in there and let it sit for 3 months.

This isn't original in flavor but it's really good, and good for you.

Homemade Low Fat Ranch (or other) dressing

1 16 oz container low fat cottage cheese
1/2 - 3/4 c skim milk
1 tbsp mayonnaise
1 envelope Ranch dressing mix. (You can use other flavors such as Parmesan Garlic etc as well).

Put milk, mayonnaise and the dressing mix in the blender and blend.
Add the cottage cheese and blend until smooth. Scrape down the sides if necessary.
Pour or scrape dressing into a jar and refrigerate before using.

You can make this thinner for dressing, or use the 1/2 cup milk if you like it thicker, as for dipping vegetables.

for a simple dressing go for 1 part vinegar and 2 parts olive oil - it's actually really good!

i've got two favourites:

about 2 to 3 table spoons of olive oil about a teaspoon of red wine vinegar and a table spoon dollup of dijon mustard, stir it around until it turns into a creamy paste.

The other one faithfully follows a french recipe that i once read.
Get about a teaspoon of balsamic vinegar, sprinkle some salt into the vinegar and shake/stir it to disolve the salt.
Chuck the lot into a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and and a small amount of english mustard.

Both are lush~ enjoy your salad :P

This is my balsamic vinaigrette:

3 Tbsp. balsamic
2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
1 Tbsp. Dijon
The zest of some of the lemon
1 big tsp. minced jarred garlic
Salt and fresh ground pepper

Shake it up!

I've seen some yummy looking recipes here, but nothing quite like what I use. Usually I just have lettuce with Ceasar dressing, carrots, almonds and croutons. (YUM!) I usually buy the dressing pre-made, but here's a recipe I found on the internet.

i like just plain old lemon juice!

I echo Nadie but without the natural yoghurt and substituting finely chopped chillies for the chilli powder. A bit of salt and pepper and bob's your uncle etc.

What a very sensible question.

it all depends on what kind of sald you are preparing or in other words what the main ingredient is ie. fish, beef, lamb, chicken etc. as you must be careful to ensure the flavour of the dressing brings out the flavour of the salad and doesn't overpower it,
however once the main ingredients of olive oil & vinegar (i use either balsamic, wine or cider vinegar - each having it's own unique flavour) have been put to one side then the actual flavouring of the dressing is entirely up to you

i find the best way is just to experiment with flavours and find what suits you and the dish.

a great all rounder however is honey and mustard as it works well with most white and red meat dishes (not fish though)

try ginger, lemongrass, spring onion and chilli blitzed in a food processor with olive oil and white wine vinegar as an accompaniment to baked avocados halved and stuffed with tiger prawns - a great summer dish

Sure Ketchup & mayo (like a thousand island dressing) tiny pieces of cut up cooked bacon, garlic powder & parsley flakes-maybe some baby pieces of tomato or just some of the juice from a frash tomato to thin it out to your desired consistancy.

MMmmm yummy-it might just be my hunger speaking, but sounds good anyway!

EV Olive oil, grainy mustard, honey and fresh cracked black pepper.

chop up veggies - carrots, cucumbers, onions, green peppers, broccoli, etc...sprinkle to taste/quantity desired - cumin, cavendars greek seasoning, season salt, sugar, garlic salt, minced garlic. add one tablespoon grated parmesan cheese and one tablespoon vinegar (i like red wine). mix all together and toss with lettuce. add tomatoes, a source of protein and top with a little bit of cottage cheese and fresh ground pepper

I find some salads quite hard to eat, especially green salads. With the following tahini salad dressing recipe, I could eat a panda's raw green bamboo salad it's so delicious!

TAHINI DRESSING

1/3 cup water
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Method
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.

Mango Vinaigrette is a unique and very interesting dressing. Here's how:

2/3 cup sunflower oil
3 tbsp honey
1 tsp salt
1 tsp white pepper
2 tbsp chopped fresh scallions
