Good for you for wanting to learn how to use an old school can opener! I threw away my electric one years ago when my children couldn't figure out how to use one - they were use to the ease of the electric. It sounds like such a simple thing - but it was a skill that actually had to be taught. I now have the comfort of knowing that in the event of a lengthy emergency / power outage my kids wont starve because they know how to open a can.
The can openers that I am most familiar with have a blade wheel, a guide wheel, and a turn knob - the blade wheel opens the can lid and the guide wheel rotates the can as you "crank" it open. The style that you are referencing - even if new - is a replica of a truly golden oldy. I would think that if your opener only has the blade wheel that, much like the two wheel kind, your blade wheel would be used to puncture and open the can - while you not only manually crank the can open, but also manually rotate the can as you do so. If I am correct this style of opener leaves some pretty jagged edges on the can / lid - be extra careful not to cut yourself!
It doesn't sound like the simplest opener to use - but kudos to you for wanting to!
No idea
Place it on top of the can and twist the one wheel
I bought the "One Touch"
place it on top push the button,,, go about other stuff,,,
the top is open....
Hold it horizontal, laying on to the upper lip of the can with the wheel on the outside, squeeeeze the handle tightly and turn the knob. Otherwise, hack it open with a knife or buy a new opener.
