What is the best steak and how do I make it?!

Question:

What is the best steak and how do I make it?

I am a vegetarian and I was trying to make a steak for someone's for a special person's birthday. I am a really great cook except I don't know which steak would be the best or how to make it. Usually when I cook meat its chicken and I know how to grill but I think he's tired of chicken and grilled steak. I just wanted a new way to cook it and to get a really good cut (price isn't an object cuz I only need one. lol)
Help me!!! His bday is in 2 days.

Pan Seared Rib Eye Recipe

1 boneless rib eye steak, 1 1/2-inch thick
Canola oil to coat
Kosher salt and ground black pepper

Place 10 to 12-inch cast iron skillet in oven and heat oven to 500 degrees. Bring steak(s) to room temperature.
When oven reaches temperature, remove pan and place on range over high heat. Coat steak lightly with oil and season both sides with a generous pinch of salt. Grind on black pepper to taste.

Immediately place steak in the middle of hot, dry pan. Cook 30 seconds without moving. Turn with tongs and cook another 30 seconds, then put the pan straight into the oven for 2 minutes. Flip steak and cook for another 2 minutes. (This time is for medium rare steaks. If you prefer medium, add a minute to both of the oven turns.)

Remove steak from pan, cover loosely with foil, and rest for 2 minutes. Serve whole or slice thin and fan onto plate.

Filet Mignon...medium rare...anything more than is a blasphamy to a steak. Grilling or pan fry.

Personally, I love a rib-eye. It is the most juicy of cuts due to all of its marbling. If you can find them, get a dry-aged steak. They are a bit more but soooooooooooo worth it! Never cook it past medium. Delicious!

Filet Minion is considered the "best steak" it's the most expensive and lean steak there is.

However others maintain the New York is the best it has more fat then the filet but has more taste.

Still others maintain that Top Sirloin is less fatty then the New York and more tender.

It's subjective and it depends on who you ask, however filet is considered the fancy type of steak. You can grill it, fry it, or bake it.

if he likes steak, but wants something different, you could try buffalo/bison! that's my fave. you can either grill it or cook it in a frying pan w/ olive oil. season w/ rosemary & garlic, cayenne pepper, fresh cracked pepper & seasoning salt. it's so delish! or if you can find kobe steak in your area, that's fantastic, too.

The best steak would be japanese Kobe beef.
Kobe beef refers to beef from the black Tajima-ushi breed of Wagyu cattle, raised according to strict tradition in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. Wagyu ("Japanese Cattle") are renowned for flavour, tenderness, and fatty well-marbled texture, qualities enhanced by the traditional (and well guarded) methods of raising Kobe beef.

Now the bad news, A good Kobe beef steak will probably cost you 150-250 bucks.
Best way I feel to cook steak is get my grill as hot as it will go. Sear the steak 2 minutes on each side, then turn the heat off and let it sit cooking it self for about 10 minutes.

It's debatable and a matter of taste. Some like the filet mignon, some new york strip and some the tenderloin. Make your guy happy, get a porterhouse and you get all three in one terrific package. Go to a meat market for this cut, if you are going to do it, do it right. Get their advice on how to season and cook it and while you are at it, most meat markets usually have a little seafood to go with, like a small lobster tail, some twice baked potatoes and some unusual appetizers and wines.

hubby had a porterhouse once that brought a tear to his eye and he loves telling that story.

Have fun.

Filet Mignon and let it soak in a lot of jack daniels sauce over night and all day long til you cook it. Make sure its covered with the sauce. Keep it in the fridge of course. Then put it on the barbaque. For 5- 10 minutes cut open and see if its how u like it. Some people like it a little red. Which i do and u can actually taste the sauce. Its so good. We just did it. You will be so thrilled.

Filet Mignon..... well done....
season with the following:
Salt, Black Pepper, crush Rose Mary, .....
Paste a light butter on both sides..Celery finely chopwhen finish.

Filet Mignon. I recommend grilling medium rare (takes about 6-7 minutes on each side).

Serve with some sauted mushrooms (morels since they are in seasons) that are slathered in butter. A nice sauce such as Bordelaise will really bring out the flavors.

Rib-eye steak is my favorite and doesnt dry out like some
of the others. Grill until its to her/his liking. If you don't have
a grill put it under the broiler in your oven.

I would go with a Spencer or Rib eye Steak. Try to find one with a a really nice marble or big filet piece. I usually Olive oil my steak good and throw on Garlic, Pepper and salt and let it sit in the ice box for a couple of hours. Unfortunately, the best way to cook the steak is on a hot fire grill. It will work in the oven or stove, but it will come out best on a grill. Make sure that when you finally do cook the steak it isnt right out of the ice box. Let it sit to about room temperature or so before cooking. This will prevent ur steak from drying out nd losing most of its moisture. Most times it take the meat too long to cook if it is too cold. The outside cooks faster than it takes the middle to finally get hot. Med rare is my favorite temperature. Remember if you are gonna cut the steak, make sure you let it sit about 2 minutes or so after grilling to let the juice settle in to the meat before cutting. Remember also, during the time that the meat is sitting, it will cook a lil, so dont take it off the grill at the temp you want to eat it at. Take it off a lil before. Good luck

I would recommend sirloin steak, wrap it in foil with some onions mushrooms and tomatoes on top and cook it at 180 for about an hour and a half depending on how well done he likes it. Good luck.
