ground beef cooked of course. place in pan then add ketcup until soupy then the secret is brown sugar, Add brown sugar to the ketcup and the ground beef. Let it cook on low for ten minutes then taste and add to your taste with the brown sugar. This is my grandmother recipe. Its great. Try it and let me know.

Easy Breezy
Cook up your hamburger and drain, season with salt, pepper and whatever else you like ( I use garlic salt or powder). Add ketchup, prepared mustard, some brown sugar, horseradish, worchesteir sauce and mix it all up and let it heat through on low.
I don't measure anything, just keep tasting until it is how you like it.
If you want it saucy add more ketchup, I prefer mine drier so I just go with a bit of ketchup but I love them with a kick so I add a lot of horseradish!!
Serve on crusty buns with pickles.
If you prefer you can also dice up an onion or pepper or both and add to your meat before you add the main ingredients.

If you really want to kick it up, add a splash or two of beer.

You cannot screw up when making taverns/sloppy joes, make them they way you like them!
