Why are grapefruit so sour?
Why are they sour and what can I do to reduce the bitterness in a way that is healthy, but without sugar?

I have no idea, they look so good and taste bad because of the sourness. As far as sweetening, you could try some honey if you don't want to use sugar. Or you could use Equal or Splenda to sweeten it up.
Your /supposed to peel of the semi clear part the purple part sooooooo sweet.

It's the nature of the beast. Buy pink grapefruit, and peel all of the white pithy rind off. Pink grapefruit are much sweeter than regular grapefruit.
