Tell me about food processors ..?!

Question:

Tell me about food processors ..?

its good or not? do you work with it?how about?

Answers:
It depends on what you are trying to do with them. I use mine to make salsa and hummus, chopping onions. But I think it is more of a persoanl preference type of thing. I really don't use mine much - and is it just an attachment to my blender...

I love my KitchenAid food processor! I use it a few times a week, and in fact I just used it today to make tortilla dough. I've made salsa, hummus, pretzel dough, I've chopped stuff, made sausages, pasta dough, you name it. If mine broke at this moment, I'd have another KA tomorrow. I can't live without it anymore.

I have a food processor and hardly ever use it.
I have a great set of knives that work perfect for slicing and chopping.
And a great stand mixer that works perfect for mixing up stuff.
If you have those two things you don't need a food processor.
It takes a lot of work to clean up all the parts when done using it. That's my #1 beef about it.
So I suppose if you don't have the other two mentioned above it would be ok to have one.

I've got a Gary Rhodes food processor that I bought cheap off "Selly Telly and I LOVE it!

It is so easy to clean that I have even been known to use it to chop an onion!

Highly recommended! - especially if you can get it for 25 quid (inc. p&p) like I did...

I also have a "stick blender" for zzzing soups in the pan, so I don't have to ladle it into the processor... but that's probably me just being a lazy b i t c h. ;o)

I use it a lot and thus it's always on display in the kitchen. It's great to grate carrots and cheese and breadcrumbs, chop onions, to mince meat, to prepare shortcrust pastries, pancake batter (it never gets lumpy), and, to the delight of my children, to prepare smoothies (quite messy though, and probably not cheaper than buying a ready-made one...). I find it very useful. Mine is a very basic one and small too (which is very good for storage), with only one speed; still I wouldn't change it for a different one. It's very easy to clean, the bowl and accessories are diswasher proof, and you can wipe the base with a sponge. Some people, like my mum, do everything mentioned above without it. So, I suppose its usefulness depends on the skills of the cook.
