Anyone know any decent smoothie recipes?!

Question:

Anyone know any decent smoothie recipes?

I recently bought a small blender thing (£3.97 from Asda for all you Brits). I was wondering if anyone knew any simple smoothie recipes that you've tried and tested, both dairy and non-dairy.
Thanks in advance.
10 points up for grabs for the best tasting combined with ease of making :P

Answers:
I drink non-dairy smoothies almost everyday, I add protein powder to mine but I don't recommend this if you don't need it.

I buy the flash frozen fruit at the grocery store. It is in the frozen food department and then you do not need to add ice which waters the smoothie down. My favorite it peach raspberry. You add a handful of peaches and a small handful of raspberries to the blender, cover in a fruit juice, I use apple for its mild flavor that does not over power the fruits. Then all you do is blend and enjoy. This has just the natural sugars of the fruit and the little bit of sugar from the apple juice. You can use any type of fruit to make these. Peach Mango, Blackberry Raspberry Blueberry Strawberry, Strawberry banana (use fresh banana), Strawberry, etc...

Good luck hope you love these as much as I do!

Equal parts plain yogurt,pineapple juice,and bananas.Whip it up,baby!Enjoy:)

STRAWBERRY-BLACKBERRY SMOOTHY

6-8 strawberries (fresh or frozen)
6-8 blackberries (fresh or frozen)
8 ice cubes
2 1/2 cups lowfat or non-fat milk
1 scoop whey powder

Rinse and cut tops of strawberries, and rinse blackberries. Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth and enjoy.
Perfect for dieting, or leave out whey powder and add ice cream for a delicious smoothy drink.

Makes about 3-5 cups.

CREAMY DELIGHT SMOOTHY

1 banana
6 strawberries
1 c. milk
3 t. yogurt
5 scoops of vanilla ice cream
1 c. cream
2 t apple juice
2 t vanilla

Blend all ingredients and prepare to enter heaven!

EASY ORANGE SMOOTHIE

1 small can frozen orange juice(or half regular size can)
1 cup skim milk
1 cup water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup sugar
14 crushed ice cubes

Place all ingredients in blender.Blend until smooth.

Banana is a must in a smoothie, milk and plain vanilla icecream (this is simple and good to get rid of the softening banans in the house).

On a posher note, try strawberry yoghurt, banana and pineapple juice for a 3 of the day easy to do.

Frozen fruits can be easily found at most supermarkets and I find are the best because they keep the drink chilled (very refreshing in the summer!). My fav is usually frozen mangoes and pineapple with just under half a fresh banana and some orange juice. Add some honey if you like it sweeter (not really needed if you use a really ripe banana). Frozen berries also work really well.

With Dairy:
Ice
1 Banana
3oz Frozen/ Fresh Sliced Strawberries
2oz Vanilla Yogurt
2oz Pina Colada Mix

W/Out Dairy:
Ice
1 Banana
3oz Frozen/ Fresh Sliced Strawberries
3oz Pina Colada Mix

Coffee Smoothie (my fave)

1 cup of milk
1 scoop of chocolate powder, Quik (or chocolate slimfast, vanilla is good too)
1 tsp instant coffee
6-8 ice cubes

Peanut Butter Smoothie (kid favorite, especially when they have friends over and it's too hot to cook)

1 cup milk
1 tbsp peanut butter
1/2 frozen banana
1 scoop of quik or slimfast chocolate powder
5-7 ice cubes

Fruit Smoothie (my husbands fave)

6 oz milk or orange juice
4 oz container of yogurt, flavor of your choice
handful of frozen fruit (berries, peaches, pineapple, banana etc, mix them up or pick one)

For each one blend on high until chunks are broken up, if it's too thin add ice cubes until you get the consistency you want.

strawberries, ice, cool whip, and sugar.

Since it sounds like you live in the UK, I can recommend the Innocent range of smoothies which are sold in all supermarkets. Fabulous quality and some really nice flavours - yes, they're expensive, but the very best thing about them is that they detail the ingredients on the back of the pack (e.g. this bottle contains 1/2 a banana, 5 strawberries, 3 grapes). Try a few, decide which you like best, and then make them yourself at home.

I have tried these and they are really nice

Cool Berry and Banana Smoothie
250gms fresh strawberries
1 banana
9 tbspns vanilla ice-cream
3 ice cubes
1/2 pot natural yoghurt

Chop strawberries and bananas, put in mixer. Next add yoghurt and ice-cream, then add the ice cubes to cool it. Let it mix for approx 1 minute until smooth but thick.

Strawberry Orange Splash Smoothie
10 strawberries
1 medium sized cup of fresh orange juice
1/4 orange
6 ice cubes

Method
Chop 8 strawberries in halves. Peel and slice the 1/4 of orange, put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Pour into 2 glasses and garnish with a strawberry in each.

Strawberry, Mango and Orange Smoothie
2 handfuls of strawberries (sliced and hulled)
1 large mango (sliced)
1 1/2 medium size cups of pure orange juice
4 ice cubes

Place all ingredients into a blender, blend until there are no lumps. Put mixture in the fridge for 5-10 minutes, then serve, drink immediately

Frothy Tropical Smoothie
1 1/2 medium size cups of chopped pineapple
1 1/2 medium size cups of chopped mango
1 banana, peeled and chopped
500ml smooth orange juice
1 scoop vanilla ice-cream
2 tbsp honey

Method
Put banana, mango and pineapple in the blender. Next add juice and honey followed by the ice-cream. Blend for a total of 1 minute.

Cranberry and Strawberry Smoothie
8oz cranberry juice
5 strawberries cut into halves
5 ice-cubes

Place all ingredients into blender, and process until smooth.

Banana and Strawberry Burst Smoothie
1 large banana, chopped into 4
1 cup of low fat milk
200 grams of low-fat yogurt
5 strawberries cut into halves
Ice

Place all ingredients into the blender, mix for approximately 30 seconds.

Buy frozen smoothie packs (from Tesco amongst others), add juice and bam! Awesome smoothie with ease.

Hi there,

Smoothies are great - it doesn't really matter what you put in, they usually taste excellent. I often put in to a blender the following;
2 squeezed oranges
2 apples
half a melon
2/3 bananas
10 frozen strawberries

Spin until smooth. There is enought to serve 4-6 people. Bananas are good to give it body, and the frozen strawberries chill it nicely and can obviously be kept for a while in the freezer. If possible start with 'wet' ingredients then add the 'drier' ones to help with the blending (i.e. put in orange juice before apples).

Have fun blending.

Regards

Richard

I like whizzing up 1/2 a banana with 1 mango. Then add in pineapple juice till preffered consistency is reached. At this stage you can then add in yoghurt, ice-cream or sorbet. I normally add in vanilla ice-cream but have also tried it with mango sorbet and both work really well.

If you don't really like mango then you can replace it with strawberries but if you do this then change the pineapple juice for apple juice.

Hope this helps

seen most of your replies, but best advice is if you use ban anas make sure you freeze them yellow or on the turn,

depending on how much you want , but for one serving.
1 bananna
a nice portion of strawberries
plain yogurt , preferably frozen.
a couple of ice cubes
and some orange juice
yummie

try fresh strawberries as many as you think you need per smoothie fresh cream for the top and decorate wiht strawberries cut in sliuces but blend the strawberries with some vanilla ice cream.

This is my favourite

2 Large Bananas
2 Large Scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream

Whiz together until you make a thick paste. Then add milk (I find that semi-skimmed tastes yummy) 100ml at a time and whizz. Repeat the milk adding until you achieve the consistency you want - I like mine thick so use little milk, my mum likes them more runny so will use more.

If you're feeling really indulgent, you can add a splash of Drambuie or Amaretto for a delicious adult alcoholic smoothie :)

both of these are dairy free...

for the boys:
slugs, snails and puppy dogs tails

for the girls:
sugar, spice and all things nice
