Need help on my cake?
Hey im trying to make a cake that looks like a sunflower for my friends B-day....Im going to make a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting in the middle and make yellow frosting pedals around the chocolate and on the side....now i never baked a cake before lol im goin to buy the easy cake mix things but i need help on the icing
how would i make the chocolate icing and the plain frosting (ill add yellow food coloring) detailed answer would be appreciated
Answers:
Take a stick of room temperature butter, a box of confectioner's (powdered) sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and about 1/4 cup of milk. Mix all the ingredients together, add the milk slowly until the icing gets to the desired consistency. It may take a little more, or a little less. Put half of it in a bowl and there is your white icing to add the food coloring to. Take the other half (leave it in the mixer) and add couple tablespoons of cocoa and mix. You may need more cocoa, depends on the taste and color. Keep adding until you are happy with the taste and color. Good luck!
If you have never made icing before
I think that you should just bye chocolate icing and yellow icing at the grocery store. You could just make a sunflower on the cake or you could use my idea.........
*You might need more that one batter of cake mix
Here is my idea:
You could bake the cake/cakes and cut out a circle with a knife and place it on the tray or a platform of some kind. (That will be the middle). And then cut out petal shaped pieces from the cake, and place them together so that it looks like a big sunflower! (Then add the icing)!
Which ever you choose I'm sure your friend will love it!
Why not just buy the cans of pre-made icing. They taste just as good as the icing you make yourself, without the work.
buy both large can of chocolate and then look for colored icing right in with the frosting you can get all colors even make green leaves and comes with tips to help you frosting tips you put on the end of the tupes of iceing good luck
Cake mix are easy to do just follow direction on the back of package Easiest way to do icing is to buy premade frosting that you will find right where you get cake mix . Buy 1 chocolate and 1 vanilla and a yellow food coloring It will almost guarantee success with the premade frosting . Good luck
