4th of july jell-o

INGREDIENTS

1 (3 ounce) package berry blue gelatin
2 cups boiling water, divided
1/2 cup cold water, divided
1 (3 ounce) package strawberry gelatin
1 (15 ounce) can pear halves, drained and cubed

DIRECTIONS

In a bowl, dissolve the gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Stir in 1/4 cup cold water. Pour into an ungreased 9-in. x 5-in. x 3-in. loaf pan.

Refrigerate until firm. Repeat with strawberry gelatin and remaining boiling and cold water. When gelatin is set, cut into cubes. Just before serving, gently combine gelatin cubes and pears in a large glass bowl or individual dishes.

Whipped cream

Mandarin oranges or bananas. Cool whip is also good mixed in to set jell-o

Cool Whip!!!

I love cool whip on any kind of jello...

I like to add fruit to it. Tangerines to orange jello, pears to lime jello, pineapple to cherry, lime or orange, rasperries to blue rasberry jelly, bananas & strawberries are good in jello too. But to top it off you HAVE to have cool whip... MmmM!

For a not-too-sweet salad, try lime Jello with shredded or ground-up raw carrots, finely chopped celery, a splash of Worcestershire sauce & some garlic salt. Good dressing for this is softened cream cheese stirred up with a tbsp of mayo. Garnish [if you're into fancy] with avocado slices... and if you REALLY want fancy, squoodge the dressing thru a pastry tube and make squiggles on the top after you unmold the jello. If you REALLY REALLY want fancy, use a fish-shaped mold and put a cherry tomato on top for an eye and make the scales with the squiggles of dressing. Awwwww!
