What is the hottest pepper you have ever eaten?!

Question: What is the hottest pepper you have ever eaten?
I must admit, I am quite the wimp in the dept. The hottest thing I can stand is a pepperchini, hardly hot at all. But I have a coworker who will eat anything. I've seen him stuff peppers in his mouth that turn his face three shades of red. I want to really test him. the hottest available that wont send him to the ER

Answers:

I've been growing the Ghost Chili - Bhut Jalokia for three or four years now.
I grow them as a novelty and for bragging rights to growing the most difficult of the tropical peppers in Z4 Dakota.
I've only tried one once and my experience was similar to this.

These are in a whole different category of hot compared to the "mild" Habenaro.
You'd get the same effect suck'n on a can of pepper spray.

The hottest I've had were finely shredded scotch bonnets.

I was in a Mexican restaurant and it was pretty mild so I asked for a small bowl of chillis (meaning jalepnos) and they were obviously insulted because those wee bastards were mega-hot!

I ate them all out of spite too!

:-0 yeeeeeaarrrrgh!!!!!!

I once let a regular jalapeno we grew in the garden to ripen til it was DEEP red. I nibbled the edge and it burnt worse than any habenero I've ever had.

scotch bonnet, jalapenos, habaneros, thai chili, jaimpur, kantotans, etc...

Red Savina Habanero.

I'm still recovering..

habbanero
