Can one make tea out of straight-up mint?!

Question:

Can one make tea out of straight-up mint?

I have quite a lot of mint growing in my back garden. Can I make tea out of those leaves, or just add a few to the standard tea-from-a-teabag sort?

And, how does one make tea from fresh leaves?

Answers:
Yes, you can make tea from straight mint. I used to do it all the time. The fresh leaves can be slowly boiled or heated in water. The result is a wonderful tea. You can dry the leaves and do the same thing, later, when the mint is not in season.

My mom does it all the time. She has this cute little thing called a Tea Ball. You put the leaves in it and put it in the cup just like a tea bag. I don't think you'd need one of those though, just put the leaves in and let it steep until its the strength you like. If you don't want to drink little bits of leaves strain it through some cheese clothe.

I suppose you could do anything if you put your mind to it. Mint isn't toxic or deadly so - Let R' Rip Potato Chip.

My mom grew mint when I was a kid. She would cut the plant at ground level in the fall and hang the plant upside down until the leaves were dry. It made great tea.

She never made tea from fresh leaves, but she did use the fresh leaves in lemonade as a garnish. It put a cooling edge to the lemonade.

i say this is the best way to make tea and it taste great. when i was a little boy my mom would go to her garden and pull some mint leaves when we didn't fill very well and she said it would sooth our stomachs and help us sleep at night so i say go for it and use honey instead of surgar and get the one that is made of 100% honey cause some of them are made with surgar. enjoy!!!!!!

Oh yes you can make mint tea with the fresh mint leave just add leave to boiling water and simmer for a few Minutes or you can add it to cold water and put on stove to boil .

No you cant.... you can make mint flavored water but its technically not tea.

tea comes from a specific leaf and that leaf is used to make green, black and white tea.

mint doesnt have the same properties as the tea leaf like the caffeine content for instance. so really you can only add mint to your "tea" to flavor it.
