What do you think of the quality of Cutco cutlery?

I used to sell them several years ago, and they are excellent quality. You won't find any better. Many people get hung up on the "double d" edge because they assume it's a serrated edge, but it's not. They are very pricey, though. Should you ever need them sharpened, I believe you have to pay for the shipping, but the company will sharpen them for free. Also, you can pass them on to your children and they will still be covered by warranty, no matter who the owner is, or how long it's been since they were bought. I used the cutlery in my sample kit when I was at home and I loved it.
But unless I could fairly easily afford the price, I wouldn't buy it, because I mainly cook out of necessity. If you're thinking about purchasing, depending how much you cook, or how much pride you like to take in your cooking, you should ask yourself if you will spend more on a one-time Cutco purchase (including possible shipping prices for resharpening), or if you would spend more on cheap knives over the course of your lifetime. For me, I don't think it would be worth it to buy the knives, but can-openers drive me crazy, so one day I might just get fed up enough to buy a Cutco can-opener. If you are a professional chef and have to purchase your own knife set, I would HIGHLY recommend Cutco cutlery, because the quality really can't be beat, and as a chef you would have to spend a good-sized sum on knives anyway.
Whatever your situation, Cutco's quality can't be beat. The prices are debatable though.

At first I thought they were high in price. I bought them to help my son's friend. I have had them for about 4yrs. They are excellent. I have not had to sharpen them since I have had them. My husband, and sons use them and at one time abused them. The handle broke on one because due to abuse. I contacted the company without any problems and the knife was promptley replace at no charge.
They're really good! The knives cut through anything and don't get dull. This might sound weird, but my favorite piece is the ice cream scoop lol. Using it seems like I"m using a butter knife on butter that's been in room temperature for 20 hours. Great products if you can afford them! If your friend or neighbor is selling them, do yourself and them a favor--buy them!

the blades are high quality , but i think they are very uncomftable if used for any lengh of time. the shears are awsome - but over priced
