Questions about making a strawberry pie?!

Question:

Questions about making a strawberry pie?

1. I need to pour the mixture into the baked crust. If I am using a glass pie dish, about how long will it take to bake the crust?

2. The only recipes I can find have Jello on the ingredient list, but I know I have made the filling out of sugar and other ingredients before....does anyone have the recipe that does *not* use jello? (But nothing extra added either...I just want to make a simple strawberry pie.)

umm no but my mom make a darn good strawberry pie made with jello not to hard and is very good expecially with whip cream on top so sorry i couldnt help out good luck! :)

Well, you already have a recipe for the strawberry pie, so I'll just say that as far as baking the crust goes: Just stick it in the oven and check on it regularly. Once the crust turns golden brown... take it out! It doesn't really matter much if you're using a metal pie dish or glass. Glass would probably be less likely to burn the crust, but I use a metal one, and I've never burned the crust.

No way! Such memories! Here's the pie I used to make in college using only three ingredients and a frozen pie crust:

The Crust: Buy a frozen pie crust the same size as your glass pie pan. Carefully take the frozen crust out of the tin and put it in your glass plate. Bake according to the directions and you'll have yourself a baked pie crust.

The Fruit: Six cups medium strawberries
3/4 cups sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
Red food color (optional. I was poor so I skipped this)

In a medium pan, gently crush 1 cup of the smaller berries and add 1 cup of water (put the remaining berries in the fridge). Bring the slush to a boil and add the sugar and cornstarch. Turn the heat down to medium and cook and stir until thick and clear. Remove from heat.

Put the berries that were in the fridge into a large mixing bowl. Drizzle the glaze over the berries and toss/turn gently to coat. Then place the berries into the cooled pie shell as pretty as you want them to be (tops down, or points to center, etc) and refrigerate about 3 hours before serving.

My roommates and I preferred the berries simply dumped into the crust. We would dip the pie crust pieces into instant chocolate pudding, which seemed to be the only other dessert we could afford. Enjoy!

Gross. Don't make a strawberry pie. Make strawberry icecream or something nicer instead?
