Why are Strawberrys called Strawberrys?!

Question:

Why are Strawberrys called Strawberrys?

Answers:
coz they r strawberryes

Don't know this for sure, but think about where they grow in the wild, close to the ground in open fields. After a farmer clears his fields of hay or straw, the berries would be able to be seen and picked.

not sure, why is anything called anything?, it needed a name and was probably just soem random name they came up with just like banana or apple

Because they are berries and if you put straw (or dry grass clippings) under them it will keep them up off the ground as they ripen?

The name is derived from Old English strēawberi?e which is a compound of streaw meaning "straw" and berige meaning "berry". The reason for this is unclear. It may derive from the strawlike appearance of the runners, or from an obsolete denotation of straw, meaning "chaff", referring to the scattered appearance of the achenes.

Strawberries are strawberries, not Strawberrys.
It helps to do a spelling check...
Anyhow, in England where they got that name, they had to be covered with straw to protect them from the cold winds in the Isles, hence, the name "berries under the straw" Strawberries...

IDK, maybe it's because they were once made of peices of straw. HA! HA!

wow that is a good question i hope someone can help you
