Question:

A good starter to go with Paella meal?

I'm having some friends round for dinner and I would like to cook Paella for the main dish but what starter will go well with this?

Answers:
Simple Mexican Rice serves 5

INGREDIENTS

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 cup uncooked short-grain white rice
1 3/4 cups chicken broth
1/4 cup tomato paste

DIRECTIONS

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic; cook and stir until onion is translucent. Stir in the chili powder and cumin, and cook for about 30 seconds. Add the rice, chicken broth and tomato paste, and bring to a boil. Transfer to a 1 quart casserole dish, and cover with aluminum foil or a lid.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until liquid has been absorbed and rice is tender. Let rest for 3 to 5 minutes before serving.

Gazpacho

Tapas

have some tapas!!! if you're having a spanish meal.... start with little plates with jamon serrano (similar to prosciutto), chorizo, manchego cheeses, spanish olives and fresh baguettes so your guest can help themselves.....also tortilla (not mexican tortilla) but a spanish one...it like a potato fritatta....have some spanish wines I recommend "Marques de caceres" it will go well with you meal....
ps: please send me some paella!

Tapas definitely.
You can keep it simple with some dried meats such as chorizo, and Serrano ham. You can also include some cheese as well - Manchego is great, or feta. Pimenton which is roasted red peppers.
In the supermarket, you can find olives that are stuffed with garlic cloves and pimenton, which are very tasty.
You can make a large platter and have your guests help themselves. Enjoy!
