Why does french bread go stale so quickly?!

Question:

Why does french bread go stale so quickly?

Answers:
Here is the proper answer.

The French bakers do not add fat to the dough when making bread, therefore the bread has poor keeping properties.

When in France we have to buy bread twice a day. The texture of the bread is different from British and American bread.

The French of course eat more bread than the British, they eat it with every meal so they don't need a bread with long keeping qualities..

All "proper" bread goes stale. The only reason most sliced bread doesn't is because of the added preservatives.

Because of low temperatures.

It goes off quickly because French bread has a very low amount of additives and preservatives.

This is why european bread tastes much nicer than British bread.

Hope that helps :D

because French is rushing for their parliamentary election soon.

It actually shouldnt be stale...but...french bread is usually not stored in plastic like grocery store bread which leaves it soft and "fresher" longer. However, french bread can stay fresh for about 3 - 5 days after puchase in only a paper bag. When you are ready to eat it, simply put it into a 300 degree oven for about 15 minutes and it should "refresh" the bread and it will taste like freshly baked. However - this trick will only work once, you will not be able to get the same effect with any left overs.

depends how far away in the world you bought it

Because it is made of water, flour, yeast and salt and nothing else...
