Sausages in Yorkishire pudding called Toad in the hole... or a new one i heard today frogs legs in dirt lol... why is it called that... i've always wondered!

I'm not sure. Maybe once, they used to eat toads baked in batter, before they swapped for bangers. I reckon it was some one's dad from centuries ago, who grossed his kid's out at supper, and the name stuck. lol
It is called "toad in the hole" because it looks like a toad sticking its little head out of its hole...when the sausage cooks, it pokes its "head" out of the batter...

Its an old english food from medieval times. In rural parts and amongst peasants, they used to have toad, frog or other small animals cooked in batter, so it was literally "toad in the hole"
