What are Yams and Beets? in english?!

Question:

What are Yams and Beets? in english?

Answers:
Yams are sweet potatoes & beets are beetroot. Both are very nice !!!

sweet potatoes?

Yams & beets are called "Tubers". They are grown under the soil and are in the same family as the good old potatoes.

Beets is probably short for beetroot.

yams are sort of like sweet potatoes but smaller I think. Beets are really dark purple on the outside and they grow in the ground. When cut and cooked they are a sort of mauve or pink.

Yamaka

The true yam is the tuber of a tropical vine (Dioscorea batatas) and is not even distantly related to the sweet potato.
The yam is a popular vegetable in Latin American and Caribbean markets, with over 150 varieties available worldwide.
Generally sweeter than than the sweet potato, this tuber can grow over seven feet in length.
The word yam comes from African words njam, nyami, or djambi, meaning "to eat," and was first recorded in America in 1676.
******************************...
Beets used to be only found in salad bars in canned form, and on European menus, but with the culinary winds changing, this root is now commonly seen in stateside grocery stores everywhere. This root vegetable like its turnip cousin has two parts ― the edible root and the edible green leaves.

There are too many varieties to list here, but with more than one type of beet to choose from, why not try one of each if you get the chance. This versatile vegetable can be eaten raw, baked, steamed, pickled, and served as a condiment or alongside soups and entrees.

Hope I helped some!
