Have you ever had one of those days where everything goes wrong in the kitchen?

Today is my sister's birthday and I decided to make her favorite cake, spice cake with penuche frosting, and surprise her at work. The frosting requires sifted powdered sugar. I couldn't find the sifter, so I stood there for 20 minutes putting it through my colander because I couldn't find anything else to use. Then I went to take the cake out of the oven and my grip slipped from the non stick spray and the whole cake flipped over and fell out! I had to run back to the store to buy another cake mix and now it's baking. Have you had anything like this happen? If so, please share your story. Thanks!

I entered a recipe contest once. I had difficulty making the dish, because it was so elaborate. But the kicker was transporting it to the competition; With my dish on the front seat of my car, I had to slam on the brakes, and the dish capsized onto the floor of the car. Rather than forfeit the contest I scraped it back into the dish, brought it for the judges to sample, and it won first place!

I was making Thanksgiving dinner for my whole extended family one time. Alot of things had already been taken out to the table and other than a few things, people were to be seated soon. I had a huge pan full of mashed potatoes that were to go in two serving dishes. Long story short, potatoes all made it to the floor and not the table. Gravy was great on the meat though! Your story is funny, one you won't ever forget! Its what gives life humour..and yes, everyone has days like that!

OK, beware, this is gross. But it was the worst week of my life in cooking.

I spent 2 days putting together our Thanksgiving dinner. I even had the Cornish hens roasting in the oven. We get a call from my relatives saying "Come on up!" So we called a cab, turned the oven down to 200, and left for a night of food and drinks. We got home and we were tipsy, so my husband ate half a hen, turned the oven off, and we stumbled to bed. The next morning I ASSUMED he had put them in the freezer.

Over the next few days there got to be a horrid smell in the kitchen. I thought I checked everything. On a whim I opened the oven door. The hens were still in there.

MAGGOTS EVERYWHERE IN THE OVEN AND THEY WERE ALIVE!!!!!!!!!

I screamed, gagged, freaked out, called him and asked what to do. He said turn the oven on and roast them to kill them. So I did. The smell got worse and I was spraying Febreeze constantly and covering my nose with a rag. When they were done and cooled I took the hens and the pan to the outside trash. I could never eat off that pan again even if I cleaned it.

And it took me a week to even use the oven again!
