Is fish considered seafood or just fish?!

Question:

Is fish considered seafood or just fish?

I often hear people say I don't eat seafood but I aways see them eating fish. So why do some put the fish in the seafood group... is it or not??

Answers:
fish is seafood if it comes from the sea, but not if it is freshwater fish-from a lake or river for example,

Fish is just fish. Most people refer to shellfish(shrimp, lobster,
clams, scallops etc) as seafood.

Well, I always thought seafood meant, quite literally, food of the sea. If there are things in the sea that eat fish, then it is seafood to me! Yeah, I know what you mean about people who don't eat seafood eat fish. Perhaps fish has become almost as common as chicken or beef that it can be hard to put it under the label "seafood" entirely. Or, maybe they either like fish but not other seafood like lobster or shrimp, or maybe fish has benificial nutrients which their body requires.

Fish is seafood

90% fish get from sea and you can disided

Fish is seafood. The distinction may arise because of the allergies and tastes of some people. While somewhat few people are allergic to fish, there are quite a number of people who are allergic to say prawns or the other kinds of seafood. Typically eating those other kind of seafood can cause reactions from mild rashes to almost fatal ones at times.

The other reason is fish is generally accepted by many people in terms of taste. As in there are probably more people who find fish palatable than squids or more exotic seafood.

In other words, fish is probably considered seafood that is so common, that they don't consider it seafood. And they refer to seafood as being the exotic type.

Hope that helps... At any rate, your question has made me hungry... hmm..

Absolutely.Any thing from water is in the category of Seafood.now the shrimp and crabs are also called shell fish(due to the crustacean).hope this helps...
