Question:

If French toast isn't French then why is it called FRENCH toast?

I don't get why they call French fries and French toast FRENCH fries and FRENCH toast if they're not French.

Answers:
The name "French toast" is attested to be from English soldiers serving on campaign in France during the 100 Year War who, upon being provided rations consisting solely stale bread and tea combined the ingredients to make it more palatable.

the French take credit for all the cool stuff

Calling it French toast is a ton easier than trying to remember how to spell "croque-monsieur". Trust me on this one.

French Toast IS French. It is called Pain Perdu, which mean Lost Bread. It was used to reuse leaf over bread. If anyone left a nice french bread over night, it gets stale pretty fast. So French Toast was used to make the that bread easy to eat
