Do you like tamales? What do they taste like?!

They are like heaven stuffed with meat and or beans and cheese, or chicken or turkey, the dessert ones sometimes have cranberries in them.

they are light and warm and heavenly. The dough is made from masa harina, a corn flour to which lime - not the fruit - but the mineral. has been added to assist in releasing the vitamin B6 into the food.

the dough is filled with various Mexican recipes as in making a burrito and then it is wrapped in a couple of leaves from the ears of corn, tied off and then steamed until the corn granules burst. It is a lot of work to make but like most good things in life, it is worth it.

They are not bread - it is more like a corn flour pudding or corn flour stuffing. It is corn flour made into a dough. In the center are meat, spices, and many other ingredients that are too peoples taste. You roll up the dough into something the size of an egg roll. Then you wrap banana leaves around those and cook them.

So when you are done cooking, you unwrap the banana leaf and you find that the dough - puree has turned into a moist pudding like - bread like - coating over the goods inside.

NOOOOOO they are nothing like corn bread!! Corn bread is baked so it fluffs up and the masa is steamed so it keeps a dense texture. Most tamales dont have cheese in them unless they are bean and cheese. Tamales are AWESOME!! You should defiantly try them BUT make sure the place you get them is known for good ones because some place make them very bland and not so good!!

I love tamales!!!!!!! They are not like cornbread. They are like thick dough stuffed with red chile with meat or green chile with meat. They are really good though! But everyone has different taste buds. Hope you like them :)
