What is the fastest way to thaw a pot roast?!

Question:

What is the fastest way to thaw a pot roast?

I have a pot roast in my freezer, weighing about 3 pounds. I can take it out around 2:30, would it be possible to have it for dinner, or is it a lost cause? If it is possible, what should I do?

Answers:
put it in your sink and run lukewarm/cool water on it. this will thaw out your meat without cooking it which is what a microwave will do. flip it or rotate it every 30 minutes or so. find a way to rig it so that the majority is submerged. Keep the water running continually, not a large flow but enough to keep the water moving. the movement of water will keep a different temperature on the meat as it warms to an equilibrium.

Microwave it on defrost

You can speed the thawing process by putting the meat in a zip-lock-type bag and immersing it in water. Change the water every half-hour or so.

Do you have a crock pot? If so, put it in there as soon as you can, on "high", and it will be ready for dinner.

i think it would be ready if you had dinner at like 8pm. here is a recipe.

Oven Pot Roast

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
ground black pepper to taste
3 1/2 pounds rump roast
1/4 cup butter
1/2 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup dry vermouth

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and black pepper to taste. Dredge the rump roast in the flour and cover evenly. Shake off excess.

In a large pot over medium/high heat, melt the butter and brown the roast on all sides. Place in a 4 quart casserole dish with lid.

In a small bowl, combine the soup mix, mushroom soup, and vermouth or white wine; pour over roast.

Cover and bake in preheated oven for 3 hours or until desired doneness
