Dirt pie for 52 preschoolers?!

Question:

Dirt pie for 52 preschoolers?

The preschool my kids go to is fixing dirt pie (pudding, whip cream, crumbled oreos, gummy worms) on Friday, and I've signed up to bring chocolate pudding for their classes.

How much should I make for 52 preschoolers?

Okay, let me clarify.

I'm bringing pudding for them to make 52 dirt pies. I just don't know how much pudding to bring.

I've about decided it would be best for me to just go to Sam's Club and get two of the great big couple gallon cans of it. Actually making chocolate pudding for fifty two kids is kind of going to take a LOT of time, space and money.

Well the recipe I found calls for 1 pkg. of instant chocolate pudding, and it says that that recipe serves 4-6 kids...so I would say this:

52 kids/4 servings = 13 boxes pudding
52 kids/6 servings = 8.7 boxes

So I would make at least 10 boxes pudding to be on the safe side.

Hope it goes well, sounds like fun, good luck!!

I'd say at a minimum, to be on the safeside, at least 52 times as much as you'd give your kids

Think of how much you would give your childer, beinf preschoolers i would say no more than 1/4 of a cup per child. so assume there will be 1/4 for every child and go from there. ask everyone else as well how much they are bringing so you dont bring to much or to little....gdluck!

1 box of chocolate pudding mix will make enough for 8 servings...you would need 7 boxes worth but I would go ahead and make 8 just to make sure I had enough to go around!!!

DIRT PIE WITH WORMS

2 to 3 qt. flower pot
1 dirt trowel
1 bunch plastic flowers
1 pkg. gummy worms
2 pkg. vanilla pudding
2 lb. Oreo cookies
3 1/2 c. milk
8 oz. cream cheese
12 oz. Cool Whip
1 1/2 c. confectionery sugar
3/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix the pudding and milk, then whip in the cream cheese, sugar, butter and vanilla. When mixed, fold in the Cool Whip. Crumble cookies in processor. In the flower pot, put piece of foil in bottom to block holes. Then put a layer of cookies, then pudding and worms. Repeat until all the ingredients are used. Top layer must be cookies. Put bunch of flowers into pot. Serve with the trowel. Oreo cookies can be substituted for sugar cookies; make a sand pie, you can use a pail and shovel.

Figuring 1/2 cup per student that's 208 oz. so 2 gallons (256 oz) should cover it. Leaves a little extra for parents and teacher.

Check the serving size on the pudding package. I believe each one makes 4 servings (small box) so you will need alot.

You could use small cups and make 55 or so to include if the teachers want some. I've seen it done in the clear plastic cups and the kids think it's great! They can see the worms and go yuck, but eat it anyhow and the cups are small enough and large enough to fill them and easy for them to handle. Are there going to be other things? You really don't want to give the kids too much chocolate or sugar, & it's full of sugar, depending on the time of day...everyone who has kids knows what happens then...kids are hyper, mom suffers. Individual cups seem to do the trick. Use the large 8 serving boxes of Jello pudding and 7 or 8 boxes should do it.Then just "wing it" with the other ingredients until you get the consistency you want. The are thousands of recipes on the web, but Kraft has a web site and sends cook books to you for free using Kraft products, if you sigh up. Most of the recipes are really easy and kid-friendly, including the main courses! Have fun...the kids really like this dessert!

Well, I would say at least a little cup per student, but if you want them to have a good time, then about a cup per (a little over 3 gallons). Ahh the joys of parenthood huh?
