Question about trimming chicken breasts?!
Question about trimming chicken breasts?
Am I weird, or are there others out there like me? I absolutely HAVE to cut every bit of fat, connective tissue, etc. off of boneless chicken breasts. The worst part is that gigantic "vein" thing in the tenderloin. That, and where the tenderloin connects to the breast, there's a bunch of silver skin or something. Is anyone else freakishly meticulous about trimming chicken, or am I the weirdo? :D
Answers:
I like a little fat left for flavor but I'm with you on the vein thing. That's gotta GO!
I trim all the fat off, but I don't usually get down to looking for veins.
You're not the only one. My aunt does the same thing only she goes one step further and washes it with anti-bacterial soap.
I'm the same as u,
maybe i'm wierd too?
I do the same thing taking off the fat and i don't like having that chewy vein thing in my chicken either.
Takes time to take all off.. but it's worth it
If you trim off All the fat it gets dry and tough when you cook it. I don't think its weird you just like dry chicken.
I do it, too, and then I don't even eat it. When I made chicken enchiladas last week my mother was here, she ate ALL of the stuff I trimmed off! I almost gagged. I figure, if I wouldn't eat it, I wouldn't let my kids eat it.
no, you're not weird, or alone. i do the very same thing. i HATE HATE HATE fat on my meats or anything else.
I leave a little for cooking just so it not dry. But I will cut it all off before I eat it.
"For each their own" as my mom used to say.
I would purchase boneless, skinless breast and leave alittle fat on for flavor. But, since you don't like that, buy a really good knife for trimming meat and ask your butcher (or your store meat department manager if he/she would do it for you.
Many stores offer custom cutting and trimming.
My husband isn't much of a chicken eater and he too likes it well trimmed(maybe not as much as you) but, hey, that's up to you. You are not a weirdo, darling.
your weird but really our body doesnt digest that all too well anyways..but dont be so ocd about it
